I like to tell stories. I spent my formative years as a combat correspondent, decided to get a degree in public relations because they told me that's where the money was, and fell back into journalism after the 2016 election. After this project, I hope to focus on DSLR videography and audio storytelling through radio and podcasting. Covering politics is my dream journalism job, and my real dream job is working as a divemaster on a dive boat somewhere near the ocean. View my portfolio.

My name is Niki Nelson, and I am pursuing a Master's Degree in Mass Communication. I am originally from a small town at the northeast tip of New Jersey, just minutes away from NYC. My work background is entirely in automotive, and despite an intense passion for cars, the industry does not help me make use of my innate communication skills. Because of this, I returned to school after taking two years off for work. With my family being in human relations, it seemed natural for me to pursue communication studies. I love all aspects of journalism, but I discovered a strong interest in public relations this semester. I look forward to delving into this subject and expanding my knowledge even more by being at Cronkite. Here is my portfolio.

Hello, I'm Victoria Valenzuela. My road to journalism is a unique one. I didn’t know I wanted to be in the broadcast news industry until I made it through my undergraduate coursework. In May 2017, I earned my Bachelors of Science in Marketing from the W.P. Carey School of Business, and originally planned on pursuing a degree focus in public relations. Once I started my Journalism Skills course, I caught the bug. Writing, filming and editing consumed me, and I can’t imaging pursuing a career in any other field. View my portfolio.
