Good grades...good experience...and
ultimatley graduation are the goals for most students. For some, that could
not be possible without a little help from their resident assistants, or RAs
,as they are called. At ASU, RAs are responsible for over 5,000 students, most
of them freshman. Junior Palo Verde East RA Shane Kingmane shares some of those
responsibilities.
"We have priorities to enforce rules and
policies, stuff like that. put on programs to help students, especially first
year students."
Putting on activities and trying to keep their residents in line are a few of their tasks, but the challenge every RA faces is intangible. Sophmore Manzanita RA Michael Patrick Jewell sheds some light on what they have to do.
"Being leaders and what activities are going on and trying to bind everybody together as a community." Jewell goes on to say the best thing about being an RA is building that community.
A new crop of freshmen come to
ASU every year, so there is no doubt RAs will continue to build those communities.
