TUTORING

For many students, finding help
for schoolwork can be a difficult task. Fortunately there is a service available
on campus to help students make the grade. A.J. Lehman is at Saguaro Hall getting
some help.
Algebraic expressions…stanzas…kinetic
energy and many other complex math...Science and English confuse and frustrate
students every night. To help you with these difficult issues, ASU offers student-run
tutoring centers.
Originally set up as a FYE service, it is available
to all students. Senior physics major and tutor Josh Whitney says it's easy to
get tutoring. “It's free”
You just walk in, and somebody will be waiting
at the desk. You give them your ID card, and they give you a tutor for whatever
subject you need help in. It’s real easy…and free.”
Whitney says that the tutoring center sites are
open six to eleven p.m. Sunday through Thursday. The Learning Resource Center
is always looking for more and new tutors. Whitney says that he has personally
benefited from tutoring. “I know the material better now than I ever would
if I didn’t tutor. I’ve been tutoring the same stuff for four years,
so I know if pretty well by now.”
If you are interested in becoming a tutor, you
should go to the Learning Resource Center across from the pool hall in the basement
of the MU. You can apply there and set up an interview. The LRC is also offering
daytime and online tutoring. For more information, go to the LRC's webpage on
www.asu.edu keyword LRC.
